How do I verify an Indian supplier before making a payment?
Enter the supplier's company name and GSTIN on Vetrade. Can Vetrade verify an EU buyer's VAT number through VIES?
Yes. For buyers in any EU-27 country, Vetrade validates the VAT number against VIES (the official EU VAT validation service), checks the EORI number for customs readiness, and screens the company against the EU consolidated sanctions list and OFAC SDN list. Proof-of-verification is captured in the report for your bank or customs broker.
Does Vetrade verify UAE TRN or Saudi VAT (TIN)?
Yes — for buyers in the UAE and Saudi Arabia, Vetrade validates the TRN, VAT/TIN, Trade Licence and CR (Commercial Registration) formats against FTA and ZATCA rules, and screens the buyer against EU, OFAC and UN consolidated sanctions. Live FTA/ZATCA registry checks land in Phase 2.2; format validation plus sanctions clearance is live today.
What is an EORI number and why does it matter for Indian exporters?
EORI (Economic Operators Registration and Identification) is the customs identifier that every business clearing goods through EU customs must have. If your EU buyer's EORI is invalid, the shipment will be held at the port. Vetrade checks the EORI format and pairs it with VIES VAT validation so both tax and customs identity are confirmed before the container leaves India.
Does Vetrade screen buyers against sanctions lists?
Every buyer verification screens the company name and identifiers against the EU consolidated sanctions list, the US OFAC SDN list, and the UN consolidated sanctions list. The screening is refreshed daily. A sanctions match is the legally significant signal — shipping to a sanctioned entity exposes the exporter to penalties from Indian and foreign regulators.
How is buyer verification different from supplier verification?
Supplier verification focuses on Indian government records (GST active status, IEC export licence, MCA company registration). Buyer verification adapts to the buyer's country: EU-27 buyers get VIES VAT, EORI and EU + OFAC sanctions; UAE and Saudi buyers get TRN/VAT/CR format validation plus EU + OFAC + UN sanctions; buyers from other countries get digital presence checks (LinkedIn, B2B platforms, social media, domain age, 3-year fraud news scan).
